The comedic play will run Thursday through Saturday at Whitefish Bay High School.
The Whitefish Bay High School drama club will raise the curtain on 'Harvey', its newest theatrical production, Thursday night. In the comedic play, Elwood P. Dowd introduces his imaginary friend, Harvey, a six-and-a-half-foot rabbit, at a society party, prompting his sister Veta to have her eccentric brother committed to a sanitarium, sparing her daughter Myrtle Mae and their family from future embarrassment. Problems arise, however, when Veta herself is mistakenly assumed to be on the verge of lunacy when she explains to doctors that years of living with Elwood’s hallucination have caused her to see Harvey also. The doctors commit Veta instead of Elwood, but when the truth comes out, the search is on for Elwood and his invisible …

First- through fifth-grade students at Richards School are using bottle caps to make large artistic displays of nature this week.
With Earth Day just around the corner, students at Richards School are using recycled bottle caps to bring artistic flair to the school's hallways. This week, first- through fifth-grade students are using bottle caps to make large artistic displays of nature. Students have been collecting the bottle caps since November, so students are learning both artistic creativity and the value of recycling through the project, said Richards art teacher Janann Miller. A parent came up with the idea for the project after reading the book Bottlecap Little Bottlecap. The project will be completed at the end of the week and will be hung in the hallway outside of the school's media center at a later date.

The Alash Ensemble of the Siberian Republic of Tuva will return to its American hometown for a performance at 7 p.m. Friday at Richards School. Alash, based in the Republic of Tuva in the Russian Federation, has won numerous international awards in Tuvan throat singing, a technique which allows vocalists to sing multiple pitches at one time. Ensemble members also play a variety of Tuvan traditional instruments, contributing to an overall musical experience that a Washington Post review described as “absolutely stunning.” The group’s manager, Sean Quirk, grew up in Whitefish Bay so the Tuvan musicians have adopted it as their American hometown, using it as a jumping-off point for many of their U.S tours. Alash tours the U.S. several …

Parts of speech and their proper placement should be paramount concerns on Sunday.
"Language is something to celebrate, and March 4 is the perfect day to do it. It's not only a date, it's an imperative: March forth on March 4 to speak well, write well, and help others do the same!" So says Grammar Girl, host of National Grammar Day, being observed Sunday by those who still cherish the joy and precision of proper syntax and usage. Here are some tidbits from the Grammar Girl website: National Grammar Day was established in 2008 by Martha Brockenbrough, founder of the Society for the Promotion of Good …
