Week Ahead: An Evening of Wine and Chocolate and First-Ever Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony
The Village Board will also discuss a Geoffrey Farnsworth memorial and the JCC's request to amend its development agreement.
Here's a look at some of the events in our events calendar this week. If we're missing something, you can add it to the calendar.
An Evening of Wine & Chocolate: Escape the cold with a night of sweet treats and specials in the shops along Silver Spring Drive with "An Evening of Wine & Chocolate" Thursday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Meet business owners and take advantage of complimentary chair massages, demonstrations, sneak previews, special sales and – of course – wine and chocolate. The event is made possible through a partnership with the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition. Visit the shopping district's website for more information.
The Village Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday to discuss a proposal for Geoffrey Farnsworth's family to offer a donation of a memorial council ring in Buckley Park in honor of the late teacher and cross country coach. Trustees will also discuss the JCC's petition to amend its development agreement, a proposal seeking support for Whitefish Bay to be classified as a "Bird City", among other items.
Whitefish Bay High School Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony: The inaugural class of Whitefish Bay's Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducted at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Link, the new gathering area outside the east side of the high school swimming pool. The inductees are Bill Hilgendorf, Jack Nagle, Mary Manning, Craig Counsell, Chet Wangerin, Sheldon Lubar, Randy Dean and Bob Bradley. Complete biographies are available online.
Baseball Day with Two-Time All Star Shawn Green: Former New York Mets player Shawn Green will hold a baseball clinic for children ages five to 10 years old from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the JCC Sunday, followed by a tailgate party at 2:30 p.m. At 3 p.m. Green will have a presentation and booksigning for his book "The Way of Baseball: Finding Stillness at 95 MPH."
