Do You Have a Historic Bay Story? The Library Wants to Hear it

The Whitefish Bay Public Library is undertaking a project that compiles firsthand accounts of the village's history to create a historical multimedia scrapbook.

This week is National Library Week, and as part of the national theme of "Create Your Own Story @Your Library," the Whitefish Bay Public Library is undertaking a project that compiles firsthand accounts of the village's history to create a historical multimedia scrapbook.

The goal of the history project is to collect and share interviews with people about their experiences of the Bay. They can be childhood memories of special events or people, stories about your neighborhood, tales of Bay traditions; Anything that will help to tell the story of life in the Bay for future generations.

The interviews and stories the library collects will be added to the library’s historical collection. Print versions will be housed in the adult collection. The ultimate goal is to make written materials and multimedia interviews available on the library website.

Those that participate also have the option of being interviewed by Whitefish Bay High School students, who will be creating a multimedia project under the direction of high school history teacher John DeRose. Those interested in participating should indicate their interest on the deed of gift form.

To participate, go to the library's website to fill out the interview form and the deed of gift. Both must be returned to the library by April 30. For more information, please contact Adult Services Librarian Amy Krahn at the library 964-4380.
